Decription
The main body probably dates back to the 16th century, while the aristocratic chapels were added in 1719. It was restored in 1744 after a violent earthquake and consecrated in 1756.
Its construction is believed to have been desired by some Crotonese noble families gathered in the Confraternity of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary or of Our Lady of Sorrows, who then offered it as a gift to the city.
