Decription

Part of the monastic complex of St. Clare, the original structures are traced back to the late 1300s, while the current construction is affected by the contributions of the 1700s and early 1800s.

The baroque-style church was consecrated in 1774. The convent housed the daughters of Crotone’s noble families: the many noble coats of arms (Galluccio, Ventura, Sculco, Lucifero) affixed to each gift offered to the monastery attest to this.

The church of St. Clare stands as the jewel of the city’s historic center, especially for the rich heritage it holds inside, including a cabinet that encloses a pipe organ, built in 1753 by Tommasio De Martino
