Decription

Dating back to the 15th century, making it one of the oldest in Crotone. Of royal appointment, it was possibly founded by the noble family “Prothospatariis,” of Greek origin, who therefore also had patronage. According to other scholars, however, the name would allude to the Prenotari, or a set of local notable people who had patronage in this church.

Until 1777 it had two altars: one dedicated to St. Louis Gonzaga, the other to St. Gaetano. The one-nave church has an elongated body with a semicircular apse.

The main facade has a tufa stone portal surmounted by a continuous-line entablature decorated with floral motifs and supported by side brackets.

Above is a rose window with stained glass.
