Established in 1982, it was housed in the Aided Tower of Crotone's Castle-Fortress. In 1996, it was permanently moved to the Sottocampana Barracks and the Castle's Commanding Tower, the latter used only for temporary exhibitions.
There are three exhibition rooms. The first room primarily houses ceramic fragments of floor tiles and tableware of southern Italian manufacture, unearthed during excavations in the historic city center and the Crotone area.
The second room displays, in glass cases, numismatic documentation, particularly a bulla, a small, rounded object typically containing an amulet that could be worn as a pendant on a necklace. We also find hunting daggers and several swords, everyday objects (cannate, lanceddre, salaturi, limme, capase).
